Arabian Oryx is a mammalian Friend who has appeared in the Kemono Friends anime as well as the original mobile game.

Appearance

Arabian Oryx has mostly white hair with several brown spots down the center and brown bangs on the sides. The underside of her ears are also brown. She has small, feather-like hairs on the topmost brown spot, representing horns. She wears a militaristic white shirt with a dull blue-gray striped tie, with a skirt of roughly the same color. Brown handless gloves with white, buttoned cuffs cover her hands.

She has thighhigh socks that are intially white and fade into brown approaching the knees. She has white and black boots with a white ribbon and wields a double edged spear-like weapon, whose ends resemble an oryx's horns. The shaft of the spear itself is black. Her tail and ears resemble those of the Arabian oryx, similar to other Friends who also exhibit these features.

Arabian oryx in the desert

The Arabian oryx originated in the Arabian Peninsula, north of Kuwait and Iraq. Able to detect rainfall from a great distance, they can move in the direction of fresh plant growth. Since rainfall is irregular they must travel over hundreds of square kilometers, many times in a random pattern without a set destination.

Arabian oryx feed on diverse types of grasses and shrubs found in their arid habitat. They acquire water from water holes and streams, but when free water is not available, they obtain moisture from sources such as melons and succulent bulbs, sufficient for lengthy periods of time.

Extinct in the wild due to overhunting at the hands of Bedouin for meat and sport by motorized parties, Wild Arabian Oryx were eventually re-introduced. However, poaching has once again become a serious threat.
