The Water Deer is a type of mammal Friend that appeared in the original Kemono Friends mobile game.
Appearance
Water Deer has short orange-brown hair with a darker brown spot on her scalp. She has straight bangs that are a bit longer in the middle and have two longer strands that frame her face and become white at the tips, representing the tusks of her animal counterpart. Human ears poke out from her hair, despite the large deer ears she sports at the top of her head that are fluffy and white on the inside. Her eyes are black and she also has a large mark in the corner of each eye, representing the animal's somewhat obvious scent glands.
Water Deer wears an orange-brown sweater, the same shade as her hair, that is white and folded over at the ends of the sleeves. Underneath, she wears a white turtleneck shirt and a white tied ribbon-bow that sticks out of the sweater. She wears cutoff shorts in a darker orange-brown color that are frayed at the edges over orange-brown pantyhose that fade to white in the back, such as at her calves, and at her ankles. Her short, pointed deer tail rests over the back of her shorts. Other notable accessories and features include, black gloves, White shoes tied with ribbon-bows that have black soles and black noses, and a single pointed tooth that sticks out when she smiles.

In Real Life
The water deer is a small deer native to China and Korea. They're around a meter in length and half a meter tall at the shoulders. They weigh around 10 kilograms/22 pounds. They're brown with some creamy spots on the belly, rump and neck.
Water Deer are quite different from other deer though they still belong to the same family. They prefer swamps, rivers and other wet habitats. They use tall reeds to hide and love swimming; in fact, they're able to swim for miles and reach all kinds of islands. Instead of running like other deer, they appear to hop like rabbits. Perhaps their most discerning feature are their lack of antlers on both sexes. Instead, they have long canine teeth that protrude downward. Interestingly, these teeth are held rather loosely and can be moved back and forth and to the sides.
Water Deer are not aggressive towards humans, but they are very territorial towards other water deer, especially during mating season. They mark their territories with their scent marks and through visual marks, like bitten off reed and branches. Females will also chase away anything that comes too close when she is about to give birth. They use their long tusks to fight and due to the frequency of encounters, many are seen with visible scars and other injuries. Thanks to their tusks, they're also called Vampire Deer. However, that name may also refer to musk deer or muntjacs, who also look like deer with fangs, although they are not related.
Water Deer live solitary lives, especially males. Females, however, may live in loose groups, but will flee in different directions when in danger. Strangely enough, despite their solitary lifestyle, they will warn others of predators. Their tusks are only used to fight other Water Deer and they will try to hide or run from any other danger.
