Walrus is a type of Friend that appeared in the original Kemono Friends mobile game.
Appearance
Walrus has long pinkish grey hair that darkens and splits into two at the very end, representing the tail rather than her having a separate tail. Attached to her head are flippers, behind the front of her hair which is a light yellow colour. She has two sections of hair that nearly reach her feet tied with pink ribbons, white to represent the animal’s tusks. Her eyes are brown.
Around her neck is a thin pink scarf. She wears a ruffled darker pink bikini top and matching bottoms. Her slouched gloves are the same colour as her hair and darken towards the end, while her open toe socks are the same colour without any darker spots. She has very dark purplish pink sandals.
Her old design has lighter hair of the same shade tipped in various places with green, and yellow side bangs. She wears a one piece swimsuit the same colour as her hair and her legwear covers more of her feet, rather than her wearing sandals. Instead of having hair tusks, she carries a scythe-like object with two “tusks” tied to it by a similar pink ribbon.

In Real Life
Walruses have large, flabby bodies covered in brown or pink skin. Short fur covers most of their bodies except for their fins. Their faces feature two small eyes, a mustache and two long tusks.
They weigh from 600 to 1 500 kg and can be as long as 3.2 meters. Males are about twice as big as females, have longer and thicker tusks, and usually have thicker skin; their blubber keeps them warm in frigid waters. These animals can also slow their heart rates, which allows them to live in freezing temperatures.
Walrus tusks can grow up to 1 m. The tusks are canine teeth and stick out from either side of the animal's mouth. Walruses use their tusks to break through ice, and to assist in climbing out of the water and onto the ice. The animals also use their tusks to defend themselves from larger predators.
Most walruses live in frigid waters near the Arctic Circle. They prefer areas with shallow water so they can easily access food. Their favorite food is shellfish. They dive underwater and use their whiskers to detect the shellfish in the dark waters of the ocean. They also eat sea cucumbers, coral, a variety of mollusks, shrimp, crabs, tube worms, tunicates, seals, and sea birds.
They climb up on ice or beaches to sleep or to rest. They don't move quickly on land but are swift in the water. Walruses can swim on average around 7 km/h and as fast as 35 km/h.
A group of walruses is called a herd. They gather by the hundreds to sunbathe on the ice.
Trivia
- A walrus can remain under water for up to 30 minutes before coming up for air.
