Mexican Wolf | Nexon Game |
The Mexican Wolf is a type of mammal Friend that first appeared in the original Kemono Friends mobile game.
Appearance
Mexican Gray Wolf's hair is dark gray and unruly, poking out mostly at her neck and then becoming more mullet-styled down to her waist, with black tips all around. There are two light brown spots in her bangs, which hang down in an M-shape and turn blonde at the tips, the same color as tufts of blonde hair that poke out in front of her human ears. Atop her head are triangular wolf ears, blonde colored and fluffy on the inside, with gray fading to a caramel color upwards on the outside. Her eyes are a similar caramel color and a long tail curls behind her legs, starting light gray near the base and becoming wider and darker, ending in a black tip.
Mexican Gray Wolf wears an outfit similar to a school uniform, with a light brown cardigan that buttons in the front and is folded up at the elbows. A pink ribbon-bow is partially covered by a collar of white fur, and she wears a pink check-patterned pleated skirt. She wears light brown leggings/pantyhose that are the same blonde color as her hair under the knees underneath light brown lace-up boots that are rimmed with white fur at the top.

In Real Life

The Mexican wolf is the smallest gray wolf in North America and one of the most colorful subspecies. Although it used to range throughout Mexico as well as southern California to Texas, the population has reduced exponentially.
Mexican gray wolves are social creatures and live in packs that can be as small as 6 members or as large as 30. They usually travel together and establish a fair amount of territory, ranging anywhere from 30 to 500+ square miles (48 to 804 kilometers), depending on the size of the pack and population of prey. The territory is claimed by a mixture of scent marking and vocalizations, such as their signature howl.
These wolves mate in February, but only the Alpha pair in a pack will do so. After about 63 days, pups are born blind in litters of 4-6. During this time of the year, the pack will reduce their territory to claim a den for the pups, usually a natural hole or a previous animal's burrow. Pups are able to travel with the pack by autumn and reach reproductive maturity at two years old, when they will leave to find a mate and claim territory of their own or remain to be a helper in the pack.
Rocky Mountain elk can make up to 80% of their diet, especially preying on calves. They will also hunt other ungulates, wild turkey, small mammals such as rabbits, and domestic cattle on the (very) rare occasion.
Trivia
These wolves are known as "Lobos" in Mexico.
They have been mistaken as the mythical chupacabra before.
Mexican gray wolves usually only eat twice in a week, gorging themselves on up to 20 pounds (9 kilometers) of meat at a time.
In 2023, the Mexican gray wolf was featured in a set of United States stamps that showcased a variety of endangered animals.
