In Real Life
A White-Eared Opossum is mostly covered in black and grey fur, with white spots on their face and ears. Their tail is a similar dark color to their body with a grey tip, despite being hairless, and aids their climbing skills. They tend to be one to three pounds (or 0.5kg-1.3kg) and are found in various biomes throughout east and central South America.
The diet of the White-Eared Opossum changes with age and the seasons. They begin breeding at the end of the dry season, so joeys will nurse from their mother for three to four months as flora begins to flourish again. Younger individuals tend to favor invertebrates and fruit, while adults are more likely to consume vertebrates such as birds, fish, smaller mammals, and even snakes. This means that young are less likely to compete with adults for food.
Trivia
White-Eared Opossums can give birth to more than twenty joeys at once.
Fruit seeds can remain intact even after passing through their digestive system, so they play a role in replanting tropical flora. This method is called "seed dispersal."
They will catch and eat snakes because they are immune to snake venom.
It is the team mascot of a Brazilian football team from the state of Pernambuco.
