Brown Bear is a Friend who appears in Kemono Friends Pavilion.

Personality

Brown Bear seems to retain her curt and matter-of-fact anime personality. Since Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey remained a Cellien hunter, it may also be inferred that Brown Bear is one as well.

ヒグマはもともと”シクマ”という名前でした。一説には「四・熊」と分解して読んだからと言われています。体は大きいですが、時速60kmを超える快速の持ち主です。 「ヒグマだよー。いわゆる一つのサイキョーってヤツかなぁ。こう見えて足もそれなりに速いしね、逃がさないよー。サイキョーであり続けるため、いつでもどこでも誰の挑戦も受けるよー、キミもどう？」

The brown bear was originally called the "shikuma" in Japanese. One theory is that it came from a literal reading of the separate kanji for "four" and "bears". While it has a large frame, it also possesses a maximum speed of over 60 kilometers per hour. "I'm Brown Bear. They call me one of the strongest, I suppose. Even though I look like this, I have pretty decent speed. I won't let anything get away. So I can keep on being the strongest, I'll take challenges from anyone, any time, anywhere. How 'bout you?"

How to Encounter

Prior to content updates, Brown Bear was notable for almost never spawning at anything other than the Bonfire and the Campfire; the latter being the more effective of the two. Levelling her becomes trivial once they are acquired; very few other Friends spawn on them, so player can count on Brown Bear spawning at one point or another if they have them. Furthermore, the player can always save to craft the Bonfire if the don't feel like relying on gacha.

Nowadays, there are a fair assortment of other non-limited avenues of encountering her at least somewhat reliably and in more areas, such as the Tire Pyramid (4-star, Savanna) and the Hammock (3-star craftable, Jungle). However, the fires remain by far the most effective method. Aside from these, Brown Bear has been observed to rarely spawn on the Bunk Bed.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Campfire is a particularly effective duckboat for Brown Bear, resulting in tens of encounters daily even in the nighttime.
