渡りをおこなうハトで、夏場はアメリカの五大湖周辺からニューヨーク、冬場はメキシコに渡り越冬していました。巨大な群れが飛ぶ姿は、空を覆い尽くさんばかりだったようです。1800年代半ばまでアメリカ東部に数十億羽も生息していましたが、乱獲、森林伐採により20世紀初頭に絶滅しました。 「アテンションプリ～ズ。夏はあちら、冬はあちらと旅するリョコウバトでございま～す。私、体力には自信がありまして、何日も飛び続けることができるんですよ。旅先で見た山や森、湖、海岸……さまざまな景色が、今も心のアルバムに残っています。パークの道案内はお任せください」	{{{endescription}}}
