Brown Bear is a Cerulean huntress who first appeared in Episode 11 - Cerulean of the Kemono Friends anime.
Personality
Brown Bear has a brave and rough nature, while showing signs of kindness, as she repeatedly shows concern for the safety of others. Acts like a leader of her group, and is able to remain calm even in battle. She's also not afraid of fire.
Role in the Plot
Episode 11 - Cerulean
She dismisses Kaban and Serval, and tells them to wait while she and her companions deal with the Black Cerulean. While following the footsteps of the Cerulean with Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey, they meet up with African Wild Dog and starts fighting the threat.
She is shown landing a hit against the Black Cerulean, but she barely manages to damage it. When the Cerulean stops and changes his direction, she retreats and regroups with the other Friends, and helps to formulate a battle plan against the Cerulean threat.
She closely follows Kaban, Serval and Lucky when they try and lead the giant Black Cerulean to the ocean using the Japari Bus. She stops Kaban from returning to save Serval, and goes along with the plan of leading the Black Cerulean while carrying Lucky.
Episode 12 - Amusement Park
Appears with the rest of the group, telling the story of how she returned too late and only could take Serval to safety. In the fight against the Cerulean, she helps Serval in their first try to save Kaban. With the help of her hunting companions, she manages to cut the Black Cerulean's leg in one hit, setting Kaban free.
She's seen in the beach searching for Lucky's remains and later participating in Kaban's party.
Relationships
Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey
Has a close relationship with her, having fought different battles as a unit together with African Wild Dog. She seems to understand Brown Bear's real intentions when acting tough and dismissing Kaban and Serval, saying that it was only because she was worried about them.
African Wild Dog
African Wild Dog is the hunting companion of Brown Bear and Golden Snub-Nosed Monkey.
Trivia
- Prior to her role as Brown Bear, Eriko Matsui also voiced the character Black Jaguar in the original Nexon Game. She also voiced many other characters from the Nexon game including Giroro, Japanese Marten, Roe Deer, Oriental Stork, White-Eared Opossum, Steller Sea Lion.
- Eriko Matsui goes on to reprise her role as Brown Bear in the 2019 Mobile Game Kemono Friends 3.
