Leo, otherwise known as Kimba to western audiences, is a collab Friend based on the character of the same name which appears in the Osamu Tezuka manga Jungle Emperor (ジャングル大帝, Janguru Taitei). Leo first debuted in a collaboration held by Chiba Zoological Park related to the 1997 film starring Leo.
Appearance
Old Design
Leo has a white hair with black color on the tip of his ears and tails, and Tezuka-styled black eyes. Leo wears a white colored safari outfit with a blue button on the belt, white socks and shoes.
Redesigned
Leo has a white hair with black color on the tip of his ears and tails, and Tezuka-styled blue eyes. Leo wears a red bowtie, black maid-like dress with white color at the top and has a pair of yellow buttons, and white shoes with red ties.

In the Source Material
Leo is the main protagonist of Jungle Emperor (ジャングル大帝, Janguru Taitei), a Japanese manga series created by Osamu Tezuka. Althrough there are many incarnations of Leo including his fate whether alive or dead at the end of the series, they usually share something in common such as being born on the ship, his mother Eliza teaches him all about his father legacy before she died in shipwreck, fighting against human hunters and poachers, befriending with a human boy named Kenichi Ooyama, and learn human language from Kenichi.
Unlike his father Panja who won't hesitate to kill all domestic/livestock animals and any tamed animals which considered by him as traitors, Leo hates seeing any animals fighting or kill each others including domestic/livestock animals. Leo wanted to create a place where all animals can live together in harmony without needing to hunt and fight each others. Leo is very distrustful towards humans (other than Kenichi) after he was captured. Leo also has very great hatred towards zoo because to him zoo is seen as freak show for forcingly taking animals away from their home, being thrown inside the cage, and shown as display to other humans which seen as taking away their freedom.
