“Order Pelecaniformes, family threskiornithinae, I'm Crested Ibis. I have been told that I'm tone-deaf but I like singing. Because my song can save anyone, I will follow you. But, It doesn't mean I will give up in achieving beautiful singing voice. Will you accompany me practicing... ... Hey, what's the matter?”
Crested Ibis' introduction.

The Crested Ibis is type of an Avian Friend that has made appearances in nearly all Kemono Friends media to date.

Appearance

Crested Ibis has two white and salmon pink tipped wings on her head. Her hair is white with wispy feather-like hair at the rear, flat bangs at the front, and two large side bangs at the front of her face that fade from white, to bright red, to a deeper crimson-charcoal red at the ends. Her eyes are pale yellow - before Kemono Friends 3 her eyes lacked a white highlight glint similar to Extinct Friends. She wears a white button up jacket with a light red fur collar, red jacket laces, and oversize flared sleeves with a light pink pleated trim. She wears solid red gloves partially obscured by her sleeves. Her tail resembles white feathers, fading to light pink at the tips. She has a similarly colored light red pleated skirt, solid red leggings, and black mary-jane shoes.

In Real Life

The Crested Ibis, also referred to as Japanese Crested Ibis or Toki, is a large member of the Ibis subfamily, and the only member of the genus Nipponia. Once roaming an expansive range over east Asia, the Crested Ibis is now the undisputed most endangered of it's subfamily due to deforestation, only being able to survive in small populations in Shaanxi, China.

Toki in breeding plummage

The species has many definitive physical features, such as their bare heads, curved beaks, red facial skin, and beautiful crests. Their plumage color varies depending on the time of year. During breeding season, their feathers change to a medley of greys, which would otherwise be a bright white.

Crested Ibis follows an interesting niche, traveling between habitats depending on their current needs. They build nests and breed in the tall trees of pine forests, and move to wetlands and agricultural areas for foraging. They feed almost exclusively off small marine animals, such as fish, crabs, beetles, mollusks, and frogs.
