A list of all Friends based on terrestrial mammals belonging to the infraclass Marsupialia. Marsupials are distinguished from the other two mammalian infraclasses by their reproductive strategy: they give live birth to underdeveloped young, which in the case of most species are then placed in a pouch on the mother's abdomen—called a marsupium, hence the name of the infraclass^[1]—which contains the mother's mammary glands, from which the young are weaned. The majority of extant marsupial species are found on the Australian continent, which includes various islands in close proximity to the nation of Australia, while the rest inhabit the Americas.^[2]
