Category:Mongoose Friends

A list of all Friends based on carnivorous mammals belonging to the family Herpestidae, commonly known as mongooses. They are well-known for their slender bodies and their resistance to snake venoms. Their long bodies and fierce attitudes may make them seem to be relatives of weasels and stoats, but the groups are not closely related, having convergently evolved their common traits.

Mongooses can be found natively across Africa (where the greatest diversity can be found), the Middle East, mainland Asia, and throughout the Southeast Asian islands. Infamously, an introduced population can also be found on the Hawaiian islands, where they have become an invasive and destructive species.
