The Rhinoceros Hornbill is a species of bird native to South-East Asia. They're around 80 centimeters long and males weigh almost three kilograms while females weigh a little over two kilograms. Their plumage is mostly black with white legs and tailfeathers which have a black band. They have large colourful beaks with a large golden horn, which is called casque, on top. It functions as a resonating chamber to amplify their calls. The males usually have larger casques. A sure way to tell the sex's apart is by looking at the eye; males have red eyes with black rims and females have blue eyes with red rims.
The Short-Beaked Common Dolphin is a species of Dolphins native to the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. They're black on the back and white at the belly with a yellow-brownish patch on the sides. They have small, sharp interlocking teeth. They're 1.5 to 2.5 meters long and weigh around with males generally being a bit larger and heavier. Their diet varies greatly between regions but usually consists of squids, octopi and small fish.

The Rhinoceros Hornbill primarily feed on fruit, but will also eat insects, reptiles, rodents and small birds. Like many other birds, they bond for life. They will find a hole in a tree to make a nest. The female stays inside with the freshly laid eggs while entrance is sealed with mud and feces except for a small slit which is used to feed the female while she incubates the eggs and the chicks once they're born. When the chicks are around three months old the mother breaks out by herself and the parents reseal the entrance in the same way once again, this time both of them feeding the chicks for another three months until they're old enough to break out and fly.
Dolphins are highly social animals and live in pods which can merge into mega-pods consisting of hundreds or thousands of animals. They also associate with other dolphin species and whales. They travel, eat and breathe together. If one gets sick, the rest of the group will support it. Like humans, they usually only carry one offspring at a time and twin or more births are rare. They reach sexual maturity around age 2-12 depending on sex and region. A pregnancy lasts around 10 months. Newborns immediately take part in daily life and don't stray far from their mother. They are weaned after 7-19 months.

Kemono Friends' Rhinoceros Hornbill was revealed on JAZA's hornbill day on March 1st 2020 along Great Hornbill. She did not yet appear in any other media. She has short black hair and a large red yellow and white beak with casque on her head. Her blue eyes along with a red ring she wears as a necklace indicate towards her being based on a female animal, which is arguably quite rare among friends. She wears a black t-shirt and long black fingerless gloves. She wears white hot pants, a white pantyhose and pale yellow and white shoes.
Dolphins are under threat by being hunted for their oil where legal, but perhaps the bigger threats they face are indirect. They get caught in fishing nets as bycatch and their food is depleted by overfishing and pollution. Close interaction with humans may cause them to get struck by boats and if they are fed they may associate humans with food, making them more likely to take bait and get close to boats and fishing gear.

Kemono Friends' Short-Beaked Common Dolphin appeared in almost all Kemono Friends media except the Manga. She has short dark gray hair that fades to white and then sky blue towards the bottom. She has dark gray eyes that end in a small gradient with sky blue particles on the bottom. This particular feature is shared with other Cetacean Friends, as well as other animal parts such as a dorsal fin at the top of her head, a pair of flippers on the side, a spot in the shape of a blow hole and a big animal tail. She wears a one piece blue dress with a sailor collar and a yellow ribbon tie, with a layer of white cloth at the bottom that shows a sky blue shine similar to the one on her hair. She made a brief vocal appearance at the very end of season 1. In her Unique Behavior in Pavilion she dives into the water from the diving board. She is part of the main group in Kemono Friends 3s story and joins at the end of chapter 3.
