The [[New Zealand Giant Penguin]] is an extinct species of penguin, which was native to Antarctica and New Zealand roughly 35 million years ago. It was one of of several genera within the subfamily of giant penguins, identified from fossils found in these areas as well as within South America, and all of whom went extinct long ago.
The Rhinoceros Hornbill is a species of bird native to South-East Asia. They're around 80 centimeters long and males weigh almost three kilograms while females weigh a little over two kilograms. Their plumage is mostly black with white legs and tailfeathers which have a black band. They have large colourful beaks with a large golden horn, which is called casque, on top. It functions as a resonating chamber to amplify their calls. The males usually have larger casques. A sure way to tell the sex's apart is by looking at the eye; males have red eyes with black rims and females have blue eyes with red rims.

Few details are known about the species, apart from the fact that they would have been truly immense specimens; they were the second-tallest penguins ever, at 5 feet/140-160 cm, and the heaviest penguins ever— at 80 to 100 kilograms, they weighed as much as the average adult male.
The Rhinoceros Hornbill primarily feed on fruit, but will also eat insects, reptiles, rodents and small birds. Like many other birds, they bond for life. They will find a hole in a tree to make a nest. The female stays inside with the freshly laid eggs while entrance is sealed with mud and feces except for a small slit which is used to feed the female while she incubates the eggs and the chicks once they're born. When the chicks are around three months old the mother breaks out by herself and the parents reseal the entrance in the same way once again, this time both of them feeding the chicks for another three months until they're old enough to break out and fly.

Kemono Friends' New Zealand Giant Penguin debuted in the canon audio drama, [[S1E12.4: Original Drama "Japari Bun Hunt"|Japari Bun Hunt,]] depicted as a knowledgeable and mysterious individual who assists PPP from behind the scenes, to the point of seemingly predicting problems that would happen in the future. She would then go on to appear in Pavilion, and then in a more substantial capacity in KF3. She is generally depicted as being cheekily carefree, and usually acts as an advisor or producer for the PPP idols.
Kemono Friends' Rhinoceros Hornbill was revealed on JAZA's hornbill day on March 1st 2020 along Great Hornbill. She did not yet appear in any other media. She has short black hair and a large red yellow and white beak with casque on her head. Her blue eyes along with a red ring she wears as a necklace indicate towards her being based on a female animal, which is arguably quite rare among friends. She wears a black t-shirt and long black fingerless gloves. She wears white hot pants, a white pantyhose and pale yellow and white shoes.
