Donkeys are herbivorous and easy to care for. They are often stabled together with horses and are said to have a calming effect on nervous horses and young foals. They may even be used to guard sheep like a shepherd dog! Their most prominent uses are to work in agriculture and transport. As such, they were used in world war 1 to carry wounded soldiers from the battlefield or carry equipment while also serving as a source of food in an emergency situation.

Donkeys may breed with horses of other species. A female horse and a male Donkey will have a baby mule! In November last year, a zebra on a British farm made international news after she surprisingly gave birth to a zebra-donkey hybrid, a so-called zonkey named Zippy!

|trivia=* In [[Kemono Friends 2]], her clothing remains the same, albeit her color scheme, which is largely gray, shifts slightly towards a light brown.
* Donkeys can interbreed with other members of the family Equidae to give birth to a hybrid. For example, a female horse and a male donkey can breed to give a mule. In November 2018, a female zebra in a British farm gave birth to a zebra-donkey hybrid, a so-called zonkey named Zippy. It was second ever zonkey in the UK.
