Danzaborou-Danuki is based off of the bake-danuki folk tales of Sado Island. Danzaburou was the leader of Sado Island's tanuki. Tales of him often focused on how he would decide humans with illusions and his transformation abilities. Other folk tales would focus on how he would lend money to those in trouble, though he was also known for stealing (but also repaying) money. Two legends treated him as responsible for there being no kitsune on Sado Island. | |||
