|introduction='''Black-Backed Jackal''' is a type of [[Friend]] that appeared in the original Kemono Friends mobile game.
|appearance=Black-Backed Jackal has short, slightly messy tan hair and yellow-green irides. She wears a tan shirt with a black front, which has white crescent patterns in it - this mirrors patterns found in a real black-backed jackal. She also has a white undershirt with a large, puffy collar, tied with a ribbon.
She wears white gloves which turn tan at the back, a tan skirt, socks of the same color, and white and tan shoes tied with white ribbons. Like all Friends, she has the traits of the animal species she belongs to - this being the puffy tail and the ears of a black-backed jackal.

In real life, the black-backed jackal comes from Africa, and gets its name due to its black 'saddle' pattern across its back. The rest of its fur is a reddish color, close to tan. The black-backed jackal also makes an appearance in the novel ''The Jungle Book'', where it's treated as one of the lowest animals in the jungle and referred to as a 'dish-licker'.
These jackals are known to be one of the more vocal animals in the animal kingdom. It's not uncommon to hear jackals crying out in the early evening, responding and hearing one another until an eerie chorus is created. Should a predator like a lion or leopard try to sneak through jackal territory and is caught, the finding jackal will tail the predator while yapping in order to give away its position.
Black-backed jackals are excellent runners. This can be achieved due to the fused bones in the jackal's forelimbs, which allow it to go at 12 to 16 kilometres per hour for extended periods of time. This comes in handy when hunting, catching birds, lizards, and small-to-medium sized mammals in an ambush strategy. When live food isn't around, jackals won't shy away from scavenging. Such tactics include stealing meat from the kills of other animals, and eating human refuse.
When black-backed jackals find a mate, they are often partners for life. A jackal hierarchy often consists of the couple at the very top, and their offspring below them. The social group may also benefit from adult jackals from other litters that were split up somehow. Pups are born within a burrow located inside the jackal couple's territory. A jackal's territory range can reach as large as 10.6 kilometers, or 6.5 miles.
Despite being well-known threats to livestock and rabies carriers, the black-backed jackal enjoys a life of little predatory or human threats to their population. While people have set up traps and attempted population control for the jackals, any efforts only make a minor dent in the number of jackals in the wild.
|trivia=* Jackal pups are born blind, which lasts about ten days. They spend the first seven weeks of their live within the den they were born in.
