Passenger Pigeon is a Friend that appears in the app version of Kemono Friends 3.

Personality

Passenger Pigeon is outgoing and loves to travel, taking pictures of the places she goes and has a vast knowledge of the landmarks and regions of Japari Park. She assists other Friends by acting as a tour guide to show them to the beautiful places she knows about. She announces herself with "Attention please!" and can't resist an opportunity to guide others. She takes her duty as a tour guide seriously and makes sure to protect those she's guiding if danger arises.

Role in the Plot

Passenger Pigeon's Friend Story

While traveling, she encounters Dhole, Meerkat, and the JSRT Captain in the savanna area, commenting on the beauty of the landscape. She mentions having visited the savanna many times before but always finds something new to appreciate about it. She also talks about experiencing a new place for the first time and compares it to the nostalgia of revisiting a place. She shows the group two pictures from different seasons of the year and how they give off different impressions. She encourages Dhole and Meerkat to take in their surroundings more fully when they visit new places.

Dhole and Meerkat are excited to hear the stories of Passenger Pigeon's travels, but wonder how she doesn't get tired all the time. She confidently states that all the traveling has made her stronger and more resilient. When Chapman's Zebra appears, Passenger Pigeon is happy to see her and shares a photo from her travels with Zebra. Zebra then shares her own photos of the different fashion Friends wear in the hot and cold seasons. Passenger Pigeon then talks about the various places in her photos and all the kinds of nice scenery they have. When Dhole mentions wanting to visit some of the places in the photos, Passenger Pigeon offers to be a guide and bring the group there.

Passenger Pigeon decides to take the group on a tour of the popular landmarks in the park. First, they pass through a forest that the Expedition Team often goes on patrol in, reaching a waterfront area with a waterfall that comes from the nearby mountains. The group is surprised to find out there's such a nice place not far from their typical patrol path. They then visit a peaceful forest, followed by a vantage point in a mountain range. From where the group is, they can see familiar locations and even the Expedition Base. When night comes, she brings the group to the mountain's peak to show them the starry night sky.

The group return to the Expedition Base where Passenger Pigeon thanks them for letting her stay and the group thanks her for guiding them around to so many interesting locations. The group asks her to guide them again sometime, and Chapman's Zebra feels inspired to design new outfits after having seen so many beautiful locations in the park she didn't know about. Passenger Pigeon then departs on another trip by herself.

Another day, Dhole, Meerkat, and the Captain are reminiscing about the trip they had with Passenger Pigeon when she suddenly appears. She mentions that she just finished her job of guiding Friends to the landmarks in the park so she can relax now. Dhole asks her about the places they went and asks her what places Passenger Pigeon thought were especially interesting. She recalls visiting hidden coves with green seawater, secret paths in bamboo forests, and a cave with shining crystals. Dhole is overwhelmed and they decide to only talk about one of the places.

Dhole and Meerkat describe Passenger Pigeon's travel stories as if they felt like they were there themselves and that she's able to make them feel the excitement of traveling. Dhole feels the desire to travel again, but worries about traveling without Passenger Pigeon, which causes her to excitedly volunteer to guide them again. When a swarm of celliens appear, Passenger Pigeon vows to protect the group as part of her duty as a tour guide, but she's visibly unwell and so the rest of the group steps in to defeat them.

Passenger Pigeon tries to reassure them she's just a little tired, but they can tell something more than that must have happened. She is uncertain what could have happened since she hadn't done anything out of the ordinary beyond her normal amount of work. When Meerkat asks how long she'd been helping guide others, Passenger Pigeon says she'd been working since she departed from the group at the Expedition Base until the time she met back up with them that day. Having over-exerted herself, the group wants to bring Passenger Pigeon somewhere she can rest, but the Expedition Base is too far. Passenger Pigeon mentions knowing a nearby location that they can go to rest.

While Passenger Pigeon rests at the nearby lodge, Dhole wonders how she can help her recover. She thinks about how spending time with other Friends helps her to recover her own spirits and strength, and Meerkat mentions that's doing what Dhole loves. Together, the group realizes that they can help Passenger Pigeon by bringing her on a trip where they act as her guide so that she can experience the joys of travel instead of working as a tour guide. They decide to bring her on a trip to a place for healing.

When she thanks everyone for helping her recover from her tiredness, the group tells her they should take a trip with her. Passenger Pigeon assumes the role of tour guide, but Dhole corrects her that this time her, Meerkat, and Captain will be guiding her instead. Meerkat informs Dhole that she needs to return to the expedition base, so Dhole and the Captain will have to guide Passenger Pigeon without her.

Dhole is nervous and stumbles over her words while trying to give a tour to Passenger Pigeon, but the Captain helps her through it. They bring her to a fun forest, and then to a mountain range that is popular among bird Friends. Afterwards, they visit a peaceful lake that's free of celliens and decide to eat lunch there. Dhole worries that she wasn't able to be as good of a tour guide as Passenger Pigeon because she couldn't tell a good story or explain as well as she could. Passenger Pigeon reassures Dhole that she did a great job.

Dhole has one more place to bring Passenger Pigeon on their tour, which ends up being in a snowy area. Although she is not accustomed to cold areas, she still enjoys going there as part of their tour. Before they reach the destination, they have her close her eyes, only having her open them once they're inside the hot springs. Passenger Pigeon is thankful that Dhole remembered how enjoyable the hot springs were. After they bathe in the hot springs, Passenger Pigeon thanks them for giving her another travel memory and she says she wants to return even if she has to go through the cold to get there. She says she feels refreshed enough to work for a long period of time straight again, but she promises not to overwork herself this time after the Captain reminds her.

Relationships

Chapman's Zebra

Although the two don't see each other that often, they always share photos of their travels and time apart with each other when they do meet. Chapman's Zebra trusts Passenger Pigeon's skills at being a guide. She was glad to get to visit all the places that were in the photos that Passenger Pigeon had shown her in the past.

Dhole, Meerkat, and JSRT Captain

As a group of three, they are amazed with the stories of Passenger Pigeon's travels, her photos, and the stories of all the unbelievable places she's been to in the park. They love having her be a tour guide and showing them new places. When Passenger Pigeon breaks down from exhaustion, the group helps her recover from the tiredness at the lodge and come up with a plan to bring her on a trip where she gets to be guided rather than being the tour guide to show their appreciation and care for her.
