The Australian Devil was a local population of the Tasmanian Devil on the mainland of Australia. They went extinct most likely around 3,000 years ago and most widely believed due to the dingoes and increased aridity of the mainland.
The Devils got their name from early explorers of Tasmania, who heard the loud and hellish sounding vocalizations of the animal at nights. Some other early nicknames include "Beelzebubs pup" and "bear devil" as they have some similarities to small dogs or bears.
Kemono Friends' Australian Devil is a separate character from Tasmanian Devil. She's very shy and reserved, especially compared to her counterpart. Her outfit is completely black with a white stripe above the chest and her brown shoes and gloves.
