The [[African Rock Python]] is the largest Snake native to Africa. They can be up to seven meters long. Their body can have different colourations and patterns but generally they're light brown on the belly and dark brown/black on the back. Their head is triangular in shape and their mouth is filled with dagger-like teeth. On top of their head is a yellow marking resembling a spearhead. They're nocturnal and have evolved methods to successfully hunt warm-blooded animals in the dark. Their feeding habits can depend on the local area. In urban areas, they're a bit smaller and feed on rabbits, rats, goats and other pets while the larger ones in the undeveloped areas hunt antelopes, warthogs, bats, monkeys and even crocodiles if given the chance.

The [[Merlion]] is a mythical creature designed by the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board to represent Singapore. A concept was first devised in 1963. It's a fish with a lions head hence the name; "mer" meaning sea/ocean and lion. This design has its origin in the legend of Singapores creation. A prince of a Sumatran kingdom, Sang Nila Utama, spotted a beautiful beach on the island of Temasek, where a fishing village was also located. Upon arrival, he spotted a beautiful lion and founded the city of Singapura, "Lion City".

African Rock Pythons have a so-called "pit organ" in the form of little nostril-like holes above the mouth. That pit organ allows the snakes to detect heat radiation some distance away from them and so they can find both predators and prey in total darkness. They strike at their unsuspecting prey from an ambush with precision to get a grip on it with their teeth and coil around its body, tightening the coil with every one of their victims breaths. Cutting off all blood flow, the victim dies of cardiac arrest. They carry the dead body of their off into a safe spot as, depending on the size of their meal, can become vulnerable during digestion which can take weeks. They can eat prey about three times as wide as their head. Their skin is very elastic and they can unhinge their lower jaw and, if needed even divide their jaws to have four independently moving parts of their mouth.

The original Merlion statue is currently located in the Merlion Park in Marina Bay at the core of Singapore, visible from the entire waterfront. It's around 8.6 meters tall and constantly gushes water out of its mouth into the sea. Due to that, Singaporeans use "Merlion" as a euphemism for puking. Later on a smaller statue, dubbed the Merlion Cub, was placed behind it. In 2009, the large statue was struck by lightning but the damage was quickly repaired.

African Rock Pythons live a solitary life. They only come together to breed and the male quickly leaves as the female starts nesting. Unusual for other pythons and snakes in general, the female will fiercely defend her clutch of 20-50 eggs even for a few weeks after they hatched. Their young are very vulnerable to all kinds of animals, like birds, dogs, spiders and other snakes. Nevertheless, adults are very territorial and very aggressive towards everything that moves. The snakes are usually close to lakes and rivers. They become inactive during dry season and may become desperate enough for food to attack humans after longer periods of inactivity.

As a famous icon of Singapore, the Merlion has appeared or been mentioned in several games and TV series, such as YuruYuri, Cowboy Bebop, Animal Crossing and A Place Further Than The Universe. However, despite its popularity and fame, the statues don't appear to impress everyone. Among the Japanese, it is named one of the "Three Major Disappointments of the World" alongside the Little Mermaid (the statue in Copenhagen, not the tale) and Manneken Pis in Brussels.

Like other reptile Friends, Kemono Friends' African Rock Python wears a hood with a scale pattern. She has purple eyes, and blonde hair with violet highlights. She an olive green hoodie with brown patterns, black leather gloves, and a pleated skirt. On her legs, she wears black pantyhose a hexagonal print and high-knee black boots with hot pink belts. Like a real rock python, she has a long, slender green tail and light green belly scales. Uniquely, she holds a purple whip. She is playful and sadistic to some, like the poor, timid Red-Eared Slider, but she can also be kind to her other Friends. She like taking it slow and with patience so she can strike with precision when an opportunity arises.

She is wearing a white three button waist coat featuring a Singapore flag pocket square within it’s breast pocket, a white undershirt with a white cravat and pulled up sleeves.
