The Leopard Tortoise is a type of tortoise Friend that appeared in the original Kemono Friends mobile game.

Appearance

Leopard Tortoise has dark green eyes and pale green hair. On her head she wears a green turtle shell, which bears the distinct spotted hexagon pattern of her animal counterpart. She sports a black, unbuttoned blazer over a light green collared shirt with a red tie. She also wears a green skirt bearing the same hexagon pattern as the shell on her head, with a small tortoise tail peeking from underneath. On her legs are light green leggings, ending with green sneakers.

The leopard tortoise (Stigmochelys pardalis) is a large tortoise found in the savannas of eastern and southern Africa, from Sudan to the southern Cape. It is the only member of the genus Stigmochelys, although in the past it was commonly placed in Geochelone. This tortoise is a grazing species that favors semi-arid, thorny to grassland habitats. In both very hot and very cold weather they may dwell in abandoned fox, jackal, or aardvark holes. It is a herbivore whom grazes primarily upon mixed grasses but also favors succulents, and thistles as well.

The leopard tortoise is fairly large for a tortoise, being the fourth largest in the world with adults reaching 40 centimetres (16 in) and weighing 13 kilograms (29 lb).

Appearance wise Juveniles and young adults are attractively marked with black blotches, spots or even dashes and stripes on a yellow background which give the species it's "leopard" namesake. In mature adults the markings tend to fade to a nondescript brown or grey. The head and limbs are uniformly colored yellow, tan, or brown.

Trivia

• Leopard Tortoises are very long-lived animals, reaching sexual maturity between the ages of 12 and 15 years. They can live aproximately 50 years on average though some have been found to live even up to the age of 100.

• oddly enough despite the animal's mostly black, tan, and yellow appearance this friend has green as a primary colour for unknown reasons
