The Kemono Friends Official Guidebooks are a series of six books which, in addition to containing the official physical releases of the 2017 anime, contained information on the lore of Kemono Friends, Friend profiles, exclusive artwork, interviews, and detailed information regarding the episodes bundled with each volume. The Guidebooks are notable in that not only were they the first Kemono Friends media to detail a large portion of what is now known about the world of Kemono Friends, such as Kemonoplasm, but several new Friends and redesigned Friends were featured for the first time within as well.

Volume 1

Kemono Friends Official Guidebook: Volume 1 contained the physical releases of the first and second episodes of the anime, along with detailed information regarding each episode. It featured conceptual artwork of Japari Park, new artwork of Bengal Tiger by Mine Yoshizaki and new CGI artwork of the main characters of the series, such as Serval and Raccoon. Unlike future Volumes, the first volume revealed little in terms of major lore, mostly focusing on maps of the park itself. The Friends featured in this volume are mostly Friends that appear in the Savannah or Jungle areas, with some exceptions.

Volume 2

Kemono Friends Official Guidebook: Volume 2 contained the physical releases of the third and fourth episodes of the anime, along with detailed information regarding them. It featured new artwork by Mine Yoshizaki depicting Serval, Caracal, Lion, Fennec, and Aardwolf. It also contained new artwork of Serval going shopping, a maid outfit Serval, and an alternate maid outfit Serval patterned after her fur. This Guidebook also contained the promotional art created for a collaboration with the Wixoss card game, depicting Serval and Ezo Red Fox. In terms of lore, Volume 2 detailed information regarding the Ceruleans, including the Ceruleans featured in the Nexon mobile game, such as the Cerulean Queen and Cerval. Information regarding the Cerulean forms of the legendary Four Gods Friends was also included. The cover of this Volume featured White Lion, and the Friends featured were mostly Friends that fall under the banner of the suborder Feliformia, which includes felines and feline-like species.

Volume 3

Kemono Friends Official Guidebook: Volume 3 detailed and contained the physical releases of the fifth and sixth episodes of the anime. The Volume contained artwork depicting Kaban, Serval, and Lucky reclining under the shade of a tree, surrounded by other Friends, along with artwork of Serval, Raccoon, and Fennec bathing in what appears to be a pond or river in a jungle. It contained reference artwork depicting what many different kinds of Friends look like from behind, which also serve as tail references. Lore-wise, the Volume contained excerpts of notes written by Kako regarding Kemonoplasm and the revival of extinct animals as Friends. It also details how Friends based upon mythical figures such as Seiryu are 100% Kemonoplasm, noting that this must mean that a recently discovered Friend must be one of the Shisa twins, though the exact identity is unspecified. It moves on towards an explanation given by the Generation ? Professor Konoha and her assistant, Mimi-chan regarding the birth and rebirth of Friends. This explanation is given via the three different incarnations of Serval, representing the manga, game, and anime, in that order. The cover to this particular Volume depicts Silver Fox and Ezo Red Fox together. The Friends featured in this Volume are comprised of wolves, foxes, dogs, bears, and some related species.

It contains an interview featuring the five members of PPP, who also voice the characters of PPP within the Kemono Friends anime. Accompanying this interview is artwork of the five members of PPP's third generation playing instruments, with Princess on vocals, Emperor and Rocker on guitar, Gean on keyboard, and Hululu on drums. There is also artwork of the penguins enjoying an elaborate dessert with the three characters voiced by the members of Doubutsu Biscuits - Serval, Raccoon, and Fennec. For lore, Volume 4 discusses Mirai and Kako, two top researchers at Japari Park who are also important figures within the lore of the series. It goes on to also describe the origin of the Lucky Beasts and the existence of the Star Beasts, before continuing on to concept artwork for Kaban and the protagonist of the mobile game. This section also details accessories that were worn by the Friends during the Cerulean Queen incident, which boosted their natural power, along with important artifacts, such as a rumored time-travel amulet. The cover of this Volume depicts Short-Beaked Common Dolphin. The Friends in this Guidebook are mostly aquatic and semi-aquatic Friends, along with bovines and a few deer.

Gray Wolf's manga, Horror Detective Girogiro, as featured in the twelth episode of the anime.
