Hippo's personality is largely identical to that of her anime counterpart.

Japanese English

This animal may have humorous mannerisms and an easygoing appearance, but it is actually extremely territorial, and will even face off against lions and crocodiles. It can run at over 40 kilometers per hour, though it has little to no endurance. As a semi-aquatic mammal, it spends most of its day in the water.

"I'm Hippopotamus. It looks like I'm having fun? Fufu, thank you. But onee-san can be surprisingly 'ferocious', you know? If you're ever in trouble, look forward to seeing me, okay~♪"

How to Encounter

Hippo is considered one of the most common Friend encounters, and the player will likely have no problem finding her. However, if the player wishes to encounter her as early as possible, she is known to spawn on the Wooden Chair the player receives at the beginning of the game.

Savanna - Her most common area, and the effective area of the aforementioned Wooden Chair and both of her UB playthings.

Mountain - Decent spawn rate, no rateups.

Waterfront - Fairly high spawn rate; can be attracted for cheap with the Donut Pool Float, and can appear on the Dumbbell along with Moose and Black-Backed Jackal.

Jungle - Mild spawn rate, no rateups.

Desert - Moderately high spawn rate, again with no rateups.

Beach - High spawn rate, no rateups.

Unique Behavior

  • パンチ (Punch) - Punches the Sandbag.
  • 水面から顔を出す (Peering from the Water) - Large Peach
