Hippopotamus makes a cameo in the first volume of the manga, during Chapter 6.
Personality
Though her appearance in the manga is short and thus reveals little about her full personality, Hippopotamus is most likely protective like her Anime counterpart, Protecting children from Crested Ibis's song.
Role in the Plot
Hippopotamus was seen seen sitting on a bench with Mountain Hare, interacting a family of visitors and being gifted a hippo toy by them in chapter 6. and a boy trying to get away from Crested Ibis's song by hugging her
