Great Auk is a Friend who appears in Kemono Friends Pavilion. She was added along with 6 other friends in Version 1.3.0.

最初に「ペンギン」と呼ばれた海鳥で、悲しい運命をたどった絶滅種です。元祖ペンギンですが、分類上はペンギンよりもパフィンなどの仲間に近いチドリ目です。ペンギンたちの住む南半球ではなく、北大西洋や北極圏で暮らしていました。空は飛べず歩行も苦手ですが、泳ぎは得意です。 「『ペンギン』ってもともと私の名前だったのよね。それが今ではPPPの子たちやいろんな鳥に受け継がれてて。そういうのなんか、嬉しくなるよね。でもそもそもペンギンってどういう意味だったんだろ。調べちゃダメ？なんでかなあ？」

They are the first seabird that being called "Penguin" and an extinct species who has led a sad life. Even though they're the first one to be called Penguin, they were closely related to charadriiformes such as Puffin rather than Penguin. Unlike the Penguins who live in the southern hemisphere, they spend their life in northern Atlantic ocean and the arctic. They don't fly and have difficulty in walking but they're good swimmer. "Originally the name “Penguin” is attributed to me. And now that name is inherited by PPP kids and various birds also. Something like that, make you happy right? But I wonder what the meaning of Penguin supposed to be? I mustn’t check it? Why?"

How to Encounter

Great Auk is the rarest of the new Ocean friends. She has only 2 rateups from among the playthings added on her update; the Mysterious Reef and the Big Conch, requiring a lucky pull from the player. On top of this, she shares those rateups with at least 3 other friends. Patience is required, whether it's for gacha luck, spawns, or waiting for a more accessible rateup to be introduced.
