Ranging across wide environments spanning Eurasia is the Eurasian Lynx, the largest among the lynx species. Extirpated from West Europe, the Eurasian Lynx now roams habits such as boreal and montante forests, as well as forest-steppes. In the more extreme mountainous regions, the Eurasian Lynx will likely descend to the lowlands in search of more abundant prey, as well as to escape some of the harsher mountain climates.

With males weighing up to a maximum of 30 kilograms and females reaching a maximum of 21 kg, the Eurasian Lynx compensates for its rather large weight with large webbed paws that evenly distribute its weight, allowing it to navigate snowdrifts more easily. Unlike most other cats, the Eurasian has a rather short and stubby tail, notable for its dark black tip. Secretive, the Eurasian does not often leave obvious tracks, but it does make noises which include : hisses, growls, mewls, purrs, with mating calls being significantly louder.

Its fur coat changes to help improve camouflage year round. In the summer, the hairs are short, reddish, and brown. The colors tend to more vivid the closer an individual lives to the equator. The coat transforms when winter arrives, morphing into a silky and very thick coat that can range from silvery to light brown for camouflage in both the heavy snow drifts as well as the backdrop of the barren mountains. Many individuals have a mottled appearance, with spots being common in the Eurasian Lynx.

Mottled Monotone Winter Coat

The Eurasian Lynx has a widespread diet, preying upon animals such as wild boar, red fox, moose, roe deer, red deer, birds, hares, rabbits, and mice. Especially towards larger prey such as moose, the cat is rather small, but effort is paid off with large kills. The Eurasian Lynx heavily favorites Ungulate prey, being the only Lynx species that has Ungulates as a majority part of its diet. They do face competition and prey to wolves. Wolves are known to directly attack Lynxes, while Wolverines tend to steal kills made by the Eurasian Lynx, reducing its food supply.
