Also known as simply a 'chukar', the chukar partridge is native to the Middle East and sourthern Asia. However, they can also be found in the US after they were introduced to the country for the sakes of hunting. Despite this, they've established a thriving home in the more arid locales in western USA, and enjoy living amongst cliffs, mountains, and canyons.

Because of their love for drier regions, it can be tricky for the chukar to get food and drink. They get the majority of their food from seeds, berries, and leaves. During the summer they will also feast on the thriving insects that are around. During the winter, the chukar's diet consists almost exclusively of seeds.

Chukar males attract females by tilting their heads and circling the potential mate. Should the female accept, the pair may undergo practice feeding sessions for when they have chicks. When they do finally have offspring, the chukar nest will be situated on the ground, and will contain between 6-20 eggs.
