In Real Life
Living in groups of up to 15 to 20 individuals, Asian Small-Clawed Otters are very vocal and have a vocabulary with at least 12 different vocalizations. These are used for summons, greetings, threats and alarms. In addition, there are multiple forms of delivery: visual, chemical or tactile. Otters use scent markings as well, emitting a musky smell to mark their territory.
Despite being social and living in large groups, otters hunt for themselves, not the entire group. In the wild, otters commonly eat mollusks and crustaceans but their diet also includes : fish, insects, frogs and reptiles. They use their fore-paws to search for food as they have incomplete webbing between the toes. Their sensitive pads let them detect food underwater.
