Personality

Keen, stern and skeptical, Meerkat—also known as Meer-sensei— serves as a teacher and mentor to Dhole before and during the events of Kemono Friends 3, and later to other Friends as well. While she can be terse, Meerkat is truly a caring Friend; her moments of anger are born out of worry for the safety of others far more than out of ire. True to her professional demeanor, she uses the formal pronoun watakushi (わたくし) when referring to herself.

Role in the Plot

Following the hiatus of the original JSRT Expedition Team following Serval's incapacitation, Meerkat becomes an inaugural member of the modern Expedition Team alongside the player and Dhole. She serves as a mentor to Dhole and other Expedition Team members, anchoring the group with her rationale and wisdom.

Relationships

Bald Eagle

Bald Eagle and Meerkat share a strong mutual respect for one another. While Bald Eagle is herself quite experienced, she admires Meerkat's wisdom and refers to her as sensei.

Dhole

Meerkat serves as a teacher to Dhole, guiding her through many of the ropes of life in Japari Park. She is strict with the vice captain, but only because she deeply cares for her well-being.

Flicky

Meerkat initially feels great discomfort towards Flicky's infamous "headless horse" appearance, but starts to adjust over time.

Short-Beaked Common Dolphin

Meerkat takes a liking to Short-Beaked Common Dolphin very quickly, and is happy to accept her as a student and JSRT member. She puts the brakes on Mairuka's excitement to join the team, ensuring she gives the idea more consideration before making a commitment; her wisdom provides a good counterbalance to Short-Beaked Common Dolphin's spontaneity. Likewise, Mairuka's inquisitive nature meshes well with Meer-sensei's role as an educator, and her inquiries have helped Meerkat tackle some key problems from new angles.

Strategy

Meerkat's usage is much more difficult to justify compared to her fellow 1-star, Dhole. Aside from her buff miracle, which pales in comparison to Peach Panther's, her only utilities are a very unreliable CC and two self-buffs which require her to be at low HP. That being said. not everybody has Peach Panther, and any CC is good CC against a boss.

A potential strategy with Meerkat is to double down on her threshold bonuses, giving her Going To The Ocean, Today's Homework Is Doubled!, and further threshold photos such as Paopao Together or extra evasion such as Tools of the Trade. This build at least allows you to take advantage of her high potential evasion by turning her into a dodge-tank.
