Maned Wolf has orange eyes, long orange hair that fades to white in the two bangs at the side of her face, and changes to black in her twin tails. As with other Friends, she has a pair of pointy animal ears at the top of her head and bears the tail of her characteristic animal, in this case being a long orange tail which grades to white near its tip. She wears an orange fur bow tie, a white bare midriff sleeveless shirt and ripped dark blue denim shorts. Both her long gloves and leggings have an orange color that fades to black at the bottom, with matching black shoes.

In Real Life
Maned Wolf is the only species under the genus Chrysocyon (meaning "golden dog"). It is the largest of all South American canids, whose range extends from the Amazon basin rainforest in Brazil to the dry shrub forests of Bolivia, Peru, Paraguay and northern Argentina. Though the Maned Wolf displays many fox/wolf-like characteristics, it is not closely related to foxes, nor to wolves. Its head and body length is up to 90 cm and tail length from 28 to 40 cm. It has a long golden-red coat with an erectile mane and its body displays multiple black and white portions, particularly on the legs, that grade from red to black at their lower portions. Its long and slender legs together with its reddish coat are distinctive characteristics of this canine.
The Maned Wolf lives in grassland, savanna, dry shrub forest, swampy areas, forest-edge habitat, and river areas. The long thin legs are a notable adaptation to these areas, allowing the canid to run fast, see above the tall grass, and live in lower terrains, places with low stability and flooded fields. These animals walk by moving the legs on the same side of its body together, allowing them to save energy and travel great distances.
The narrow body and particular dentition of the maned wolf reflect its food habits, as this animal does not need to kill or eat large prey. The omnivorous diet of the Maned Wolf includes a wide variety of plant material and animals, including fruits, arthropods and small to medium-sized vertebrates.
The canines are solitary by nature—they hunt, travel and rest solitarily, and are only closely associated during the breeding season. They communicates mainly by scent marking, but also gives a loud call known as "roar-barking". Maned wolves are primarily nocturnal and have crepuscular activity peaks.
Trivia
- The maned wolf's natural history and its evolutionary relationship to the other members of the canid family make it a unique animal, being closely related to neither wolves nor foxes. For instance it lacks the elliptical pupils found distinctively in foxes.
- The nocturnal habits and large body have associated this animal to the myth of the "Lobizón" or werewolf, in certain areas of Argentina.
- Maned Wolf plays an important role in the seed dispersal of fruits, especially the wolf apples (Solanum lycocarpum), a tomato-like fruit. With some exceptions, wolf apples make up between 40 and 90% of the maned wolf's diet.
