|introduction='''Raccoon''', more commonly referred to as '''Arai-san''' is a major character in the Kemono Friends anime.

|personality=Arai-san can be defined as an impulsive, energetic Friend that runs every time towards her objective without stopping to think. Not very wise but strong-willed, staying true to her conviction to retrieve the hat that was stolen from her. She appears to have a strong sense of justice, by wanting to save the park from danger, and an equally passionate admiration for those that commit heroic acts.

Arai-san appears next to [[Fennec Fox]] in the Savannah area, tracing the smell of someone, and assuring they must find them quickly or the park may be in danger.

Arai-san encounters [[Hippopotamus]], and asks her if she saw someone with an object with the shape of a hat in their head. After this being confirmed, she hurriedly runs to catch her.

Arai-san crosses the river through the bridge, learning about someone called [[Kaban]] that made it. Without even hearing Jaguar's full indications, she quickly runs towards the mountain in pursuit of the hat thief.

Arai-san realizes her mistake in the Japari Cafe, and resumes her hunt for the hat.

In the exit of the Underground Labyrinth, Arai-san hears about the Lucky Beast talking to the hat thief, only to reveal that she can also make him talk, holding one red feather of the Park Guide's hat in her hand.

Arai-san stays the night in the house by the Lake Shore, while telling the story on how she found the hat back in the Savannah and made Boss talk.

Reaching the Plains and talking with the Friends there, Arai-san learns more about Kaban's actions, while remaining with the idea that the evil hat thief must be stopped.

Arai-san gets the permission from the Owls to enter the Restricted Area. Later, she meets the members of the PPP, and she talks about the hat being stolen around the time of the last eruption, while also learning that Kaban also met the idols.

Arai-san learns about Kaban restoring the Onsen. In The Lodge, she tells the story of how she fell off the cliff during the sandstar eruption, seeing a black shadow taking her hat.

=== [[Episode 11 - Cerulean]] ===

Arai-san charges against Kaban, and recovers the hat after a bit of a struggle. As she finishes putting the red feather back in the hat, she listens to what [[Serval]] has to say and starts doubting that the hat thief and the Kaban that she heard of are the same. After listening to Fennec's explanation, she apologizes and returns the hat to Kaban. She helps Kaban in searching for the Four Gods Tablets, and aligning them to make the filter work again. Later, she reunites with the rest of the group and listens to the plan to defeat the Giant Cerulean.

Arai-san participates in the fight against the Giant Cerulean, immobilizing the front leg where Kaban is trapped, with the help of a big group of Friends. She is later seen in Kaban's party, telling the full story on how she was following the hat and, surprised by the sudden sandstar eruption, the way she fell on the ledge seeing the black shadow of Kaban wearing the hat. She and other Friends show Kaban the fixed bus, as a present for her.

Fennec Fox is a great friend of Arai-san, keeping her close at all times. She relies on Fennec a lot, asking her about information she usually forgets, and admires her abilities.
