| 成長したオスの背面の毛色は、その名の通りブラックですが、メスや若いオスは、黄褐色をしています。らせん状にねじれた個性的な角も、オスのみの特徴です。繁殖期に成獣は角をぶつけ合って争います。危険が迫ると高く跳躍して走って逃げますが、時速80kmも出るそうです。
「我が名はブラックバック。闇より出でし闇の糾う者なり。アルフアとして生を受けたのであれば、その務めはたして見せよう。ニビルの接近は近い······。らせんお力を解放する刻は迫っている。フフフ、そのたもいっしょに来るか？ン？なぜ後ずける？我が導こうというのだぞ？」
