In Real Life
The Arctic Fox, sometimes referred to as Snow Fox or Polar Fox, is a species of small vulpines belonging to the canidae family. They are indigenous to arctic tundra regions in the Northern hemisphere, such as Russia, Canada, Alaska, and Greenland.
The most common features associated with Arctic Foxes are white fur and round compact bodies, intended to minimize exposure to cold air and blend in with their environment, an adaption highly beneficial in hunting. This appearance only lasts during winter months, however. During summer, their coats are a dusty brown less thick, resulting in a slender appearance quite far from their usual representation.
Arctic Foxes are primarily carnivorous, feeding off small animals in their habitat such as small rodents, fish, lagomorphs, birds, eggs, and decaying remains from other predator kills. Their favored prey are lemmings and birds, as they are abundant and a relatively safe food source. Occasionally, they will feed on berries and seaweed.
