The Humboldt Penguin is a penguin Friend nicknamed Hululu that has made appearances in most of the Kemono Friends media to date. She has also debuted as one of the first members of KemoV, the Kemono Friends virtual Youtuber group.
Appearance
Humboldt Penguin (Hululu) has short black hair with two pink bangs and two white spots on a bang that hangs between her eyes. She has white headphones with a pink and black design and wears a white and black hoodie that is speckled and striped above the chest. The back half of her jacket is completely black with a hood, and the sleeves are complemented with in mittens with white undersides. She wears black boots with white socks that have a gray band.

Kemono Friends Picross
Hululu appears in 2 different puzzles of Kemono Friends Picross where the player can obtain a picture of the friend by solving a puzzle.
Tobu Japari Park
Hululu appeared in Tobu Japari Park, an interactive promotional collaboration between Kemono Friends and Tobu Zoo.
Bikkuriman
Hululu appears on a sticker of Bikkuriman, a line of wafer treats produced by Lotte, notable for the highly collectible stickers that come bundled with each wafer.
In Real Life
A South American penguin that typically lives in coastal Chile and Peru, the Humboldt Penguin is named after the cold water current that it swims in. They are medium-sized penguins that grow to about 22-28 inches. Females are slightly smaller than the males, but generally are similar in all other aspects.
Humboldt penguins nest on islands and rocky coasts, burrowing holes and sometimes nest in caves. Their diet typically consists of small-fish caught using their pristine diving skills.
Due to a declining population caused by over-fishing, climate change and ocean acidification, the Humboldt Penguin is currently threatened. The current global population is estimated to be between 3300 and 12000.
Trivia
- During the Tobu Zoo collaboration with Kemono Friends, a paper cutout of Humboldt Penguin was made and put on display. One penguin, Grape, was so attracted to the cutout that people assumed he was in love. Due to the popularity of the screenshots, fanart and merchandise pairing the two together became prominent, and Humboldt Penguin's VA met Grape. Grape passed away on October 11, 2017, 21 years old.
