She has white headphones with a pink and black design and wears a white and black hoodie that is speckled and striped above the chest. A South American penguin that typically lives in coastal Chile and Peru, the Humboldt Penguin is named after the cold water current that it swims in. They are medium-sized penguins that grow to about 22-28 inches. Females are slightly smaller than the males, but generally are similar in all other aspects.
Humboldt penguins nest on islands and rocky coasts, burrowing holes and sometimes nest in caves. Their diet typically consists of small-fish caught using their pristine diving skills.
Due to a declining population caused by over-fishing, climate change and ocean acidification, the Humboldt Penguin is currently threatened. The current global population is estimated to be between 3300 and 12000.
